FAQs

Good questions.

Something else on your mind? Call 773-536-9272 and our office will walk you through it.

Do I need clean books before budgeting?
Yes. A budget is only as good as the numbers behind it. If your books are behind, we catch them up first.
Should my budget be cash or accrual?
It should match how your books are kept. Most of the small businesses we serve are on cash basis, so the budget follows when money actually comes in and goes out.
How do taxes fit into the budget?
We add a monthly set-aside for estimated taxes and adjust it when income changes. For most owners, federal estimates are due April 15, June 15, September 15 and January 15.
What tool do you use for the budget?
A living spreadsheet or the budget tools in your accounting software, whichever is easier for you to keep updated.
