Payroll before the accounts exist

Paying wages before withholding and unemployment accounts are open leaves deposits with nowhere to go.

I definitely recommend Orkun and his firm! I have been coming here to do my taxes for a few years and just recently started my own business and needed help starting an LLC. Orkun was very helpful, informative, and made the process very easy!

FAQs

Good questions.

Something else on your mind? Call 773-536-9272 and our office will walk you through it.

What is an EIN and do I need one?
An EIN is the federal tax ID number for your business. You need one to hire employees, and most LLCs and corporations use one to open a bank account and file returns.
When should I register for payroll accounts?
Before you pay your first wages. In Illinois that means a withholding account with the Department of Revenue and an unemployment insurance account with the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
Do I need sales tax registrations in other states?
It depends on where you have nexus, such as a location, employees or sales above a state’s threshold. We review your activity and register where required.
Can you register a company owned by someone outside the U.S.?
Yes. We work with founders and investors abroad and obtain the EIN and state registrations for their U.S. companies.
What is a resale certificate?
It is the document you give a supplier when you buy goods to resell, so the supplier does not charge sales tax on that purchase. You collect the tax later when you sell to your customer.
